A Big Adventure - {chalkboard imagination}

As you can see here the video has included music and sound effects, the girl is wearing clothes that suit the theme, these could be altered throughout the video to add to the effect and theme. For example it could be about fashion, makeup and hair altering as the movie progresses.

Imagination plays a large part in this project and a simple storyboard on paper will be required to plan out each stage of the shoot. A blackboard works well as it can be wiped and the next stage of the shoot added.

The shoot itself is shot frame by frame and considering how much time this will take has to be well planned. The stop frame video itself may only last a minute or two but will contain many photographs.

Go Do - {chalkboard imagination}

As part of this assignment you have to become part of the animation and be involved by interacting with chalk drawings that you have produced as in the video above.
This can be resolved in the photography studio or out on location, it has to involve either a floor, wall or surface that you can draw on. You have to use chalk that will come off with water or rain.

Edmodo system

During todays session you will be introduced to a new system called Edmodo, it is being trialled on a variety of different groups. It is business as usual with the work that you produce for your assignment on Blogger , but I want all students in this group to use it and connect with everyone on the network in this group.

You can add personal photography that you produce in addition to course and assignment work. All is explained on the lesson plan for today and links to it are on the side of this website or click the link here to start.

Video / Still image Analysis

What to include in each of your blogs is of vital importance, what I mean is that it must be relevant and add value to your learning.
All that you do is all based on 'the learning cycle' for which there is a another blog on this site all about it. This is to help you to understand the process. A blog is all about a free written piece of work with no cut and paste work of the internet in it. It has to be about your thoughts and ideas based upon the inspiration based on the research that you do.

Your research on Youtube has to be critically analysed in order to evidence your thoughts ideas and how you can add a particular piece of value into your own work. Use the words below to help describe what you are seeing;

Composition, Colour, Shapes, Patterns, Lines, Tonal Range, Frames, Rule of thirds, Texture, Form, Focal Point, Perspective, Scale,  Denotation, Connotation, (literal and implied meanings)

Once you have used these words to help identify what value you can add to your own work. For example if one photographer uses colour, or patterns , or perspective in their work you could try adding this value into your own work.

For example the work of Rut Blees Luxemburg and her night time photography;

This image shows the use of colour, shape, lines, patterns, and also the deeper meanings of the aspirational artwork images of an ideal home within that community.

Whereas this image is more about composition and frames within frames, colour, scale, perspective, but also is a social comment on how people live stacked one upon the other.

Where this image is about colour, scale, viewpoint and perspective. Also it a social comment on how that for someone this is where they work as a car park attendant.

Where this image is about perspective born out the unusual vantage point, also the focal point, the vanishing point is also a critical part of how this image is constructed. Also colour is playing a part again along with lines and scale (such as the size of the cars).

BBC 2 Idents

You should all be adding your thoughts ideas and research to your blogs each week. Whilst you are working within groups the expectation is that you are all coming up with independent ideas as well. I do not want to see one idea on all of the groups blogs, you need to be producing at least one different idea each and their should be discussion about which one will go forward to represent your group.
Once you feel that you have completed one do not sit still, move onto produce the next version.

Can you also remember that you have to physically make your number two as mentioned in the assignment paper out of the wide variety of materials we have discussed. Using the resources from another department to make your '2' will allow you to use different and interesting materials.

Reflective writing needs to be happening all the time looking back on what you have made or shot as a piece of film and can it be improved in any way. Do you need to do a reshoot for example, or can it move straight into iMovie or Final Cut editing software.
And make sure that you are doing screen grabs whilst you are using any editing software to show exactly what you did.

Any Youtube research needs supporting written work to explain fully what it is of value you have found within it that you could add into your own work. This is a vital part of this course and needs to be happening all the time.

BBC TWO Idents 1997-2001

When you research for this project make sure that you write about what you like about each video that you embed into your website in the same way that you would write about a photographers images. Thoughts and ideas need to be clearly evidenced on your website.

When you are developing ideas of your own put all these ideas onto your website,not just the main idea you end up with.The development and coming together of different ideas needs to be shown at every stage all the way up the production of the final group idea.
